NEW YORK-- Game 3 was back and forth as the Canadiens scored first only for the Islanders to score three times before the 1st Period ended then the Canadiens tied did up at 7:21 into the 3rd only for the Islanders to take the lead for good 50 seconds later and wrapping it up with a empty net goal at 19:42. The victory for the Islanders cut the series to 2 games to 1 in the Canadiens favor as the home teams have own all three games so far. The Islanders' Billy Smith had a 30 for 33 performance against the Canadiens' Ken Dryden's 20 for 25 performance.
