CALGARY-- The Flames survived a late fury by the Bruins in a penalty-filled Game 7 to advance to play the '81-82 Islanders in the All-Time Stanley Cup Finals. The victory was helped by Mike Vernon's 25 for 28 night against the Bruins' Frank Brimsek 26 for 30 performance, but Vernon's performance was heightened as he survived over 15 minutes of powerplay challenge by the Bruins. By winning the series 4 games to 3, the Flames have played their 20th game of the playoffs while the Islanders have only played 17 and already have 3 days of rest with 3 days until Game 1 of the Finals.
