MONTREAL-- The Canadiens won a penalty filled game that saw Bill Durnan get a 28 for 28 shutout to close out the series 4 games to 1. The Avalanche's Patrick Roy's 25 for 26 performance just wasn't good enough to stave off elimination for another game as the offense in front of him could get past Durnan. With the series victory the Canadiens will have home advantage in the Quarterfinals with their opponents still to be determined.

(6) '62 Packers 20, (3) '99 Rams
ST. LOUIS-- The Packers were able to stop the 'Greatest Show on Tuft' on their own home field to advance to the semifinals of the playoffs. The defense of the Packers blunted the Rams attack in the 4th Quarter to maintain their lead which was either 17-16 at the beginning and from halfway through the period to the end 20-16. The Rams could never gain traction and Vince Lombari's Packers closed them out. The Packers will either face the Redskins in Washington or the top seeded Bears in Chicago depending on the day's second game.
(1) '85 Bears, (10) '89 49ers 6
CHICAGO-- After letting the 49ers get a 6-0 led in the 2nd Quarter, the Bears defense clammed down and Walter Payton with a combined 211-yars rushing and receiving with 3 TDs leading the offense, the Bears steamrolled their way into the semifinals and a date with the '62 Packers.
Next Sunday's match-ups: (6) 1962 Packers at (1) '85 Bears and (4) '91 Redskins at (2) '96 Packers.
