The Islanders dominated Game 4 to take a 3 games to 1 lead in the All-Time Finals against the '88-89 Flames. The '81-82 Cup champions had a trio of goal scorers, led by Mike Bossy, in addition to the 34 for 34 shutout performance by Billy Smith have themselves within a game of winning it all with three games to go. The Flames' Mike Vernon had a 28 for 31 night that wasn't good enough as his offense and defence let him down, especially early in the game as the Flames had plently of penalties that broke their rhythm.
