Summary
The third set of 1st Round games provided another seeded upset and a lot of competive near upset games. In the Rockne Region, 9-seeded Clemson held off 8-seeded Northwestern's comeback attempt in a 34-26 victory thus gaining a 2nd Round game against overall #1 seed Oklahoma in Norman. Big 12 teams Rockne Region 5-seed Missouri and Bryant Region 7-seed Nebraska held off 4th Quarter charges by Tulsa and Air Force respectfully to advance. Meanwhile 7-seeded Iowa of the Big 10 stopped Rutgers of the Big East in the 4th Quarter to advance.

Advancing easily were 1-seed Texas, 3-seeds Ohio State and Oklahoma State, and 6-seeded Michigan State. Additional 2nd Round match-ups set up by this slate of games sees Missouri heading to Georgia Tech in the Rockne Region, Iowa going to 2-seed Texas Tech in the Camp Region, and Nebraska travels to Tuscaloosa to face 2-seed Alabama in the Bryant Region.
