Hi everyone it's time for PPV predictions this time covering the WWE's 2008 SummerSlam edition. Let's go to the card...
Hell in the Cell
Edge vs. The Undertaker
While Edge has been on fire as reinventing himself, I think The Undertaker takes this one just because what's the logic of reinstating him after losing a career ending match and letting him lose. But I think Edge will be overaggressive and set himself up to be defeated by the returning 'Taker.
WWE Championship Match
Triple H (c) vs. The Great Khali
There are some interesting WWE thoughs about letting Khali win the title- the exploding Indian/Southeast Asian market to wrestling and to set up another run at the title for Triple H later on. But will it happen here? I doubt, Triple H retains the title but Khali probably wins via DQ or CO to set up a rematch.
World Heavyweight Championship Match
CM Punk (c) vs. JBL
Last week and this coming Monday's ratings were and will be down because of the Olympics, if the WWE wants them to come back up they keep Punk as champ. If they want to destroy all they accomplished with the revival of RAW then give JBL the belt. Punk retains gets clear win.
ECW Championship Match
Mark Henry (c) w/Tony Atlas vs. Matt Hardy
Not yet Hardy's time in the feud I think, Henry retains through controversy.
John Cena vs. Batista
Why now? Please tell me. Batista is right this should have been built up to, this match could have sold WrestleMania alone instead they hot shot it. Batista turns heel to beat Cena.
MVP vs. Jeff Hardy
Hasn't this feud been done before, like last year? Hard to say about who wins, but they want to establish MVP more and so he'll go over.
Winners-Take-All Intercontinental & Women's Championship Tag Team Match
Kofi Kingston & Mickie James (c) vs. Santino Marella & Beth Phoenix
Santino & Beth win for two reasons : 1) Santino & Beth's 'relationship' is comedic gold if done right and so far, so good, a win makes them a 'Golden Couple' and gets them over a good heels, 2) Kingston's out of no where win for the IC title was good and all, he's had entertaining matches but he needs a feud and chasing after the title from Santino should be entertaining. While Mickie's only heel opponent besides Beth was Katie Lea, a change was needed to they can shift the division's alignments. Nothing against Kofi and Mickie, but right now Santino & Beth are the better choice.
Shawn Michael's announcement? He'll be back for Unforgiven.
Well that's it for this week, see you next in September for TNA's No Surrender and the WWE's Unforgiven.
