Hello everyone,
Long time no post. Well that might be changing for the next few months, I'm taking a Leave of Absence from work to finally finish college this Spring. I have a lot of time on my hands because I only have a few classes so I'm hoping to post more and talk about what else-- pro wrestling. Especially giving my predictions for what will happen on PPVs.
I didn't do TNA's Final Resolution earlier this month because I got caught up in the NFL playoffs that also happening that Sunday as well and forgot to give my predictions.
Well tonight is the WWE 2008 Royal Rumble live from Madison Square Garden, New York City.
Here is the line-up and predictions:
WWE US Title/Career Threatening Match- MVP (c) vs. Ric Flair
The WWE and Flair came up with a fabulous idea with this "Next Loss You Retire" storyline. MVP is improving a lot and with his feud with Matt Hardy continuing to be delayed due to injuries. Flair will be continuing to wrestle after this much, the question will be if he wins via DQ/Count Out or will have another reign as US Heavyweight champion. Personally I think Flair losing will be something "epic" and nothing against MVP, he's not that person YET (If this is one or two years from now I could see MVP ending Flair's career). Flair was moved back to RAW from SD! for this angle so I don't see him with the US Title. So
Ric Flair via DQ.
Chris Jericho vs. JBL
This can be a good match, however the set up and timing after what has happened during Jericho first month of a comeback makes it somewhat off. I think this is going to turn into a brawl and either ends in No Contest or someone by DQ. I say
Jericho but the feud continues towards WrestleMania.
WWE World Heavyweight Title Match- Edge (c) vs. Rey Mysterio
These two will burn it up. Edge will retain the title, whether he wins the match or not is up in the air. Edge is in a mini-feud until WrestleMania and so to set up No Way Out is see
Mysterio via DQ, Edge retains title.
WWE Championship Match- Randy Orton (c) vs. WWE Intercontental champion Jeff Hardy
I've hated Orton's guts since his botched face turn and World Heavyweight Title reign of 28 days. WWE's thrusting of 'Project Orton' down our throats has made RAW upbearable at times. Jeff Hardy is on fire with the crowds, people believe him to be ready to be champion if only for a month or until losing at WrestleMania. Unlike Orton, people like him and buy into him being champion. My gut says that WWE think will keep the title on Orton because their idiots, maybe via a DQ victory for Hardy. But with the return of the Elimination Chamber at No Way Out and Triple H being at WrestleMania with only injury preventing that inevitablity. So could the WrestleMania Main Event be Triple H vs. Orton or Hardy or a Triple Threat? Against my better judgment
Hardy wins WWE Championship.
The 2008 Royal Rumble (Winner receives a 'Main Event' title shot at WrestleMania)
--Now by 'Main Event' I mean a brand's particular Main Event because last year, The Undertaker won the Royal Rumble but he wasn't in the last match and the same for Rey Mysterio the year before. So the only way the winner of this match will be in the last match at WrestleMania is if he is from RAW--
So with that in mind there are 24 participates already announced for this 30 man event. There is a list: Umaga, Snitsky, Hardcore Holly, The Miz, John Morrison, Hornswoggle, Mick Foley, Batista, The Undertaker, Kane, Jamie Noble, Finlay, Cody Rhodes, Shelton Benjamin, Carlito, Santino Marella, Shawn Michaels, Mark Henry, The Great Khali, Mr. Kennedy, Triple H, Tommy Dreamer, Big Daddy V, and Chuck Palumbo.
In that list we have four former members (Batista, Undertaker, Michaels, Triple H), seven former World Champions (previous four plus John Morrison, Mick Foley, The Great Khali). And with six spaces left that leaves a lot of individuals that could make it interesting- I see The Big Show returning, CM Punk enter, Chris Jericho enter (JBL costing him though), then three new faces or two new faces plus MVP.
But I'm not going to lie to you, it'll either by The Undertaker repeating or Triple H winning his 2nd Rumble. The aforementioned Elimination Chamber at No Way Out makes me think that will be how Triple H go to WrestleMania XXIV and how SD's management is structured I think storyline-wise
The Undertaker winning again is the outcome tonight.
See you later.
